Dear Sir/Madam:
Daicel-Degussa, Ltd. (headquartered in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Taiji Yamabe, President) will start selling the new polyether ether ketone (PEEK*) resin VESTAKEEP® in earnest to the Japanese market.
VESTAKEEP is a super-heat-resistant thermoplastic polymer with a crystalline property now available globally from our German parent, Degussa GmbH. Daicel-Degussa will market the product and provide technical support for customers in Japan, as well as Japanese companies in Asia. VESTAKEEP can be used in advanced applications in areas such as aerospace, semiconductors, automobiles and electronic components. It is drawing attention around the globe, and is being adopted for use by companies throughout the world. In light of the growing concern over the environment and the race to provide new technologies at more affordable costs, VESTAKEEP is likely to play a central role in various material applications. Daicel-Degussa began offering samples of VESTAKEEP this January, and is now ready to launch the product at full scale.
Daicel-Degussa has an extensive lineup of VESTAKEEP products suitable for various purposes and production methods. For example, we have four key grades including the super-low-viscosity grade for thin injection-molded parts (1000 series), the low-viscosity grade for general processing (2000 series), the medium-viscosity grade (3000 series), and the high-viscosity grade for extrusion processing (4000 series). Each of these grades is further compounded with glass fiber and carbon fiber to provide sub-grades offering greater mechanical strength, while the optional high-abrasion-resistance grades will maintain their outstanding characteristics even in severe environments of high temperature and high PV. Additionally, we are offering a wide assortment of fine powder grades (powder sizes ranging from 10 to 50 microns) made through an original pulverization method for electrostatic powder coating and compounding with fine fillers.
Key Features and Functions of VESTAKEEP
VESTAKEEP 1000 and 2000 Series These grades offer high fluidity and heat-deformation resistance, making them suitable for precision processes such as the manufacture of thin injection-molded parts. They're ideal for various surface-mount electronic components that use Pb-free solder technology, as well as automobile components and parts.
VESTAKEEP 3000 and 4000 Series These series offer excellent wear resistance and impact resistance characteristics while providing properties suitable for injection molding, extrusion molding and compression molding. They can be used as a base material for round bars and sheets for machining and cutting, yet they also meet the low ion-elution needs of semiconductor and analyzer manufacturers. The 3000 and 4000 series are also suitable in product-manufacturing applications where a low-dust environment is required, such as manufacturing lines for slim displays.
VESTAKEEP Fiber-Reinforced Series The advancement of processing technologies and the growing concern over the environment in recent years have created a need for materials that can be processed at higher temperatures and withstand severe fatigue environments. By using glass fiber and carbon fiber fillers, etc., we¡Çve added high load-deflection characteristics to VESTAKEEPâ. Specifically, the reinforced grades have a load-deflection temperature (at 1.82 MPa) of 240C or above.
VESTAKEEP Fine-Grain Series VESTAKEEPâ has been processed into fine powders of various grain sizes using our special pulverization technology. All grades in the fine-grain series are ideal for electrostatic powder coating, dispersion coating and fluidization dip coating, and are equally suited for use in additives.
Daicel-Degussa can provide many variations of VESTAKEEP to meet your diverse needs, as the preceding description shows. In addition to the standard grades introduced above, new compounds including tailor-made grades will be created at the Technical Center and the Factory located in Japan, as being done for the leading materials made of Polyamide 12, to be applied for Japanese and the other Asian markets.
Best Regards,
* PEEK stands for "Poly-Ether Ether Ketone" (JIS K 6899/ISO 1043).
