 Among the
main requirements placed on materials for such sports equipment as skis and
snowboards is the combination of smart looks and top-quality. Every season

E and VESTAMID® L compounds have proved their worth in protective and decorative
films in this area, and VESTOSINT® coating powder is also used in the sports

- Films of VESTAMID® E and VESTAMID® L have come into their own as protective
and decorative surfaces for skis, snowboards, tennis and badminton racquets.
They are highly transparent, abrasion and scratch-proof, chemical-resistant
and have high cold impact strength.
- The films can be printed with both classical and highly modern techniques.
For especially resistant and brilliant decoration sublimation printing has
become the established method.
- Because all VESTAMID® E and VESTAMID® L compounds can be welded to each other
the overmolding of compounds of different hardness or colorability is possible.
This property is taken advantage in the manufacture of multi-component and
multi-colored parts of sports articles.
- The properties of polyamide 12 have proved valuable in powder form, among
others: A VESTOSINT® coating contributes to the rigidity of the tight mesh
of a fencing mask.
- The impact strength of the VESTOSINT® coating prevents small fragments from
spalling off during a duel. When other coating materials are used, splinters
can form when the mask takes direct hits, potentially causing eye injuries.
- Because the material acts as an insulator, the coated masks are suitable
for fencing with electric scoring equipment.
